To do work we love, we have to know who we truly are

"There is a vitality, a life force, an energy, a quickening that is translated through you into action, and because there is only one of you in all time, this expression is unique. And if you block it, it will never exist through any other medium and will be lost." ― Martha Graham

A fellow mastermind member once described me as a “midwife who helps women* birth their true selves”.

I was very moved by this, not only because of the generosity in her observation, but also because it felt true.

Unfortunately, many, if not most of us, have not been taught or encouraged to be our true selves. Even if we have, with time it often gets lost as life happens, such as peer, financial, family or other pressures and responsibilities. When we lose connection to ourselves, it is easy to get bored, frustrated and even feelings of despair may emerge.

In order to do work we love, we have to know who we truly are.  Who we are behind the “shoulds” we’ve been conditioned to follow and the routines we’ve grown accustomed to. Creating from a place of what is reasonable or just “makes sense” does not lead to fulfilment and could potentially be covering up our unique expression and purpose. Finding your “Why?” is a process of reflection that, if it could be done just with your mind, you would have figured it out by now.

Unless you are right on the verge of knowing exactly what you want, there is no quick fix and the answers you need will be as varied and individual as you are.

This is why I don’t sell online courses. If I thought this particular type of work could be achieved in a group setting or a self-study programme, I would have created one.  The journey I take my clients on is one of getting to know yourself by gently challenging beliefs you have about yourself (or career change in general) that may be keeping you feeling stuck.  To reach the level of depth we reach can only happen in a one-to-one container, where I witness you and reflect back how I see you react, intuitive hints I receive, what I hear you say and ask the right question at the right time for the “Aha!” moment that brings you closer to your truth. The truth that finally has the answers you are longing for, as if by magic.

Sometimes, the truth is not too far from where you are now.  Sometimes, it seems miles away.  Here is where the pace at which changes are made is important.  I follow your pace so that changes made can last beyond the initial enthusiasm.  Designing a work life that is different from your current one takes time, energy and most importantly support when doubt creeps in...”Am I doing the right thing???”  When people around you start seeing your life change to one they don’t recognize they will start questioning your choices and regardless of how true they are to you, it is easy to start doubting yourself. That’s where I come in to remind you what you REALLY want to do and help you find a way to do it that feels sustainable to your level of comfort and your particular life situation.

My time with you is fully about you.  It is a soulful dive into who you are, what makes you happy and to devotedly remind you of it when you forget.  I am and will always be your biggest cheerleader.

Then we team up to come up with a plan to make it happen, one step at a time so that the world does not miss out on what you are longing to create, in your own unique and joyful way.
